The Three Little Birds Scholarship honors Jodi Stallings — beloved teacher, devoted mother of three, and the heart behind a legacy of compassion. We fund nursing students and educators who carry her spirit of care into the world.
"Jodi's world changed after her cancer diagnosis in 2022. While her journey took many turns, the nurses by her side were consistent. They became not only her friends, but shepherds to help guide her through the most difficult season of her life."The Jodi Stallings Memorial Scholarship Inc.
Jodi learning "Three Little Birds" on ukulele — the song that inspired the scholarship name
Jodi Stallings was a 3rd and 4th grade school teacher who poured herself into every student who walked through her classroom door. To her children — Bo, Sophie, and Reed — she was everything. The name "Three Little Birds" comes from the Bob Marley song Jodi was learning on ukulele during her treatment, and from the three children she loved beyond measure.
In 2022, Jodi was diagnosed with cancer. During the most difficult season of her life, she was profoundly moved by the nurses who cared for her. They became her friends, her advocates, her shepherds. Jodi spoke often about giving back to nursing students after she was healed — about starting a foundation to support the kind of people who had carried her through.
Jodi passed away in 2024 before we could build it together. So we built it for her. Her favorite song was "The Climb" — and that's what this scholarship is. One step at a time, honoring the woman who taught us all how to keep going.
The Three Little Birds Scholarship was created to honor Jodi and the nurses who showed her exemplary care and kindness. Our charter has always included both nursing students and teachers — because Jodi's legacy lives in both the classroom and the bedside. In 2026, we're opening the Education track for the first time.
For those who knew Jodi and those just learning her story — these videos capture who she was and why this foundation exists.

The community that gathered to honor Jodi's legacy.
We had over eighty applicants for the 2025 scholarship. We planned to choose three. But the quality of applicants was so extraordinary — and our donors so generous — that we awarded eight scholarships. Because that's exactly what Jodi would have done.
Congratulations to each of these future nurses. Your compassion, resilience, and dedication embody everything Jodi believed in.
